Hello my name is Richard Garcia. I have been a Boston firefighter for 20 years and have played semi pro football for over 25 years. I still play wide receiver at age 46. I play football all year round. I play in many flag football leagues indoor and outdoor and semi pro for Brockton Bucs from June to October. Football has always been my outlet sport to relieve stress and have many hours without worrying about anything. Football has really helped me over the past 7 years for my son was murdered at age 18 in 2007 then my half sister which I really considered my sister instead of the term half was murderd 2 years later and then my 15 year old nephew was murdered a year after her. Every time I'm on the field I dedicate every moment to them because they knew how much I lived for the game. Without football I really believe my attitude due to what's happened in my life during those years would be much different. Everyone and anyone who knows me would say I'm truly a football fanatic. People still can't believe I'm doing what I do on the field at my age. I truly thank God for this sport it has truly been a blessing to me.
Sorry if I posted my story twice wasn't sure if it went through the first time. Thank You
As we go into week 7 of the 2014 football, season to my coaching buddies remember that your words have power. If you call a kid a meathead or get in his face about something, remember to grab them after practice and explain to them the reason for that. If you need a kid to give you something that they are not giving you show them what you need, don't just assume that they understand because you see it clear as day.
To me the game of football is...

TEAM 49 IS OUR SCHWARTZ FAMILY LEGACY
SUPER BOWL 49 IS OUR DESTINY
In the 49th year of the 20th century, our Dad and Mom, Raymond Schwartz
and Margaret McCabe married and went on to build their own dream team of
11 in the next 14 years. With seven boys and four girls, life at our
house was often a full-contact sport, but with Dad as the Coach and Mom
as General Manager, we were each fully committed to our family team.
